Defendant: Kurt Flood

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Kurt Flood, age 24, for one count Murder (unclassified), one count Felonious Assault (F-2), one count Child Endangering (F-2), one count Tampering with Evidence (F-3), and one count Gross Abuse of a Corpse (F-5), for a total of five counts, in connection to the death of 14 month old toddler, Cameron Beckford, which was a proximate result of blunt force trauma to the body of the toddler by the defendant in December, 2014, which occurred inside the home where the defendant lived located at 5249 Kornwal Drive.  The toddler’s body was found days later in an East side creek near the defendant’s home.  “If convicted, Flood faces a potential sentence of 23 to life in prison,” O’Brien stated.  The indictment of Flood follows the Involuntary Manslaughter plea of the toddler’s mother last week, which plea requires her cooperation and testimony against Flood.  Arraignment for Flood is set for this Wednesday, April 1st, 2015, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street.
