MAN INDICTED FOR MURDER SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON

Defendant: Joviyon S. Turner
Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that Joviyon S. Turner, age 19, plead guilty today to one count of Murder (an unclassified felony) with a firearm specification, in connection to the June 7, 2015 murder of Raheem Dearmond, age 22. The shooting death of Dearmond happened following an argument in a car parked at the Demorest Market located at 1425 Demorest Road on the west side of Columbus. Turner was sentenced to a mandatory 18-life in prison.
