Man Indicted In Fatal Bar Shooting

Defendant: Timothy Copley

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Timothy L. Copley, age 39, for two counts (unclassified) Murder with Specification, and two counts (F-2) Felonious Assault with Specification, for a total of four counts, in connection to the April 27th, 2013 shooting that occurred at Phil and Young’s Tavern located at 1455 Harrisburg Pike in Columbus. It is alleged that Copley fatally shot Eric Stamper, age 42, and wounded Nancy Leonard, age 46. An arrest warrant has been issued for Copley, as he was released after a bond had been set in Municipal Court. “If found guilty on these charges, the defendant faces in excess of twenty years incarceration”, O’Brien stated. Copley will be arraigned later this week.
