MAN WHO SET GIRLFRIEND ON FIRE IN GAHANNA PLEADS NO CONTEST TO INDICTMENT AND IS SENTENCED TO ELEVEN YEARS IN PRISON

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This man poured gasoline on his girlfriend and then set her on fire.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that Michael William Slager, age 41, plead no contest to one count Aggravated Arson (F-1), one count Felonious Assault (F-2), and one count Possession of Criminal Tools  (F-5), in connection to an incident that took place behind the Speedway gas station near the Heartland Bank branch at Stygler and Agler roads on August 2, 2015.  Slager doused his girlfriend, Judith A. Malinowski, age 33, with gasoline and then set her on fire.  Witnesses called 911 and the victim was transported to an area hospital where she still remains in critical condition.  “Slager was sentenced to the maximum of eleven years in prison,” O’Brien stated.
