MAN WITH EXPLOSIVES IN NORTH SIDE HOME INDICTED

Defendant:

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Mark Alan Kulis, age 55, for six counts (F-3) Criminal Possession of an Explosive Device with Specification, and one count (F-4) Carrying Concealed Weapon, for a total of seven counts.  On January 15, 2014, deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 917 Carolyn Avenue, Columbus, after its owner, Mark Kulis, was arrested on a Franklin County Probate Warrant.  Kulis was found in possession of a loaded firearm at the time of his arrest.  During the execution of the search warrant, six improvised explosive devices, bomb making materials, several firearms and ammunition were recovered.   “If convicted of these charges, Kulis could be sentenced to 25-1/2 years in prison,” O’Brien stated.    Arraignment for Kulis will be next Monday, January 27th, 2014 at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2A at 345 S. High Street.
