NEW CODIS HIT LINKS TWO STRANGER RAPES IN ONE MONTH TO THE SAME SUSPECT

Defendant: Jjamar Flowers Patterson

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This man held a knife to his victims and threatened to kill both of them prior to their rapes in the same month.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment on Jjamar Flowers Patterson, age 28, in connection to a rape that occurred on August 4, 2015 in the area of 1160 W. Broad Street in Columbus.  Patterson also has pending a multiple count indictment of rape involving a different victim from an offense that occurred on August 30th, 2015 (Case No. 15CR4574).  In the newly indicted case filed today, Patterson has been indicted for Kidnapping with Specifications (Repeat Violent Offender, Sexual Motivation, and Sexually Violent Predator Specifications) and Rape with Specifications (Repeat Violent Offender and Sexually Violent Predator Specifications).  Patterson has prior convictions from 2007 and 2012 which are the basis of the Repeat Violent Offender specifications in the indictment.  “Testing from both of the victim’s sexual assault exam kits linked the DNA back to Patterson”, O’Brien stated.  Arraignment for Patterson is set for next Wednesday, July 20th at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
