OSU STUDENT INDICTED FOR FATAL STABBING OF 21 YEAR OLD COLUMBUS STATE STUDENT

Posted on 3/10/2015

Defendant: Alexander N. Delap

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against OSU student Alexander N. Delap, age 23, for two counts of Murder, both unclassified felonies, in connection to the March 1, 2015 stabbing death of Columbus State Community College student John A. Snyder, age 21, that occurred in the University District near the intersection of Summit Street and Northwood Avenue.  In the early morning hours, police received a report of a stabbing outside a home.  Police found the victim critically injured, transported him to the hospital, where the victim died shortly thereafter.  “If convicted, Delap faces a potential sentence of fifteen years to life on the murder charges.  There are two counts with only one victim because there are different methods to commit the crime of murder and the Prosecutor’s Office typically charges both methods”, O’Brien stated.  Delap will be arraigned on Friday, March 13th at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street.
