PROSECUTOR RON O’BRIEN SEEKS AND COURT GRANTS MOTION TO HOLD MURDER SUSPECT IN JAIL WITHOUT BOND IN DEATH OF 21 YEAR OLD OSU STUDENT

Defendant: Brian Lee Golsby

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien filed a motion in Municipal Court at the initial appearance for Brian Lee Golsby asking the Arraignment Court Judge William Pollitt to detain Golsby without bail.  The reason for the motion was that O’Brien alleged that Golsby posed a danger to the community should he be released in light of the aggravated robbery, kidnapping, rape and aggravated murder that occurred last week, where 21 year old OSU student Reagan Tokes was the victim.  The Prosecution told the Court that Golsby has a lengthy juvenile record and an adult record that has resulted in two separate prison commitments.  After the hearing, Judge Pollitt granted the motion and ordered that Golsby be held without bond.  Golsby waived his preliminary hearing and the case has been bound over to the Franklin County Grand Jury.  “This waiver allows 60 days to present the case to the Grand Jury,” O’Brien stated.  “We anticipate further investigation, as well as seeking records regarding the defendant before the matter would be presented to the Grand Jury,” O’Brien further stated.
