RICO INDICTMENT FILED ON 5 PEOPLE INVOLVED IN TRAFFICKING OF HEROIN OPERATION IN FRANKLIN COUNTY

Defendant: Jose Govea-Jimenez, Jose Millan, Jose Sanchez, Jennifer Guy, Ellery Cardenaas

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien commented, “Due to the collaborative efforts of many we have been able to shut down the selling of heroin out of numerous locations in our county.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned indictments against five separate individuals involved in trafficking heroin between September 1 to November 30, 2016, who were operating out of numerous houses/apartments/storage unit locations located on Frazell Road and Bridle Creek Way in Hilliard, Trabue Road, Wildindigo Run, Parkviewlake Drive, Trinity Marsh, Sedona Crossing, and Deacon Circle in Columbus, and Bayridge Drive in Lewis Center.  It is alleged that Jose Govea-Jimenez aka Patron works for a large Mexican Drug Trafficking Organization that sells kilogram quantities of heroin in Ohio and is the leader of the cell in Franklin County.  The other individuals indicted were workers for Govea-Jiminez.  This Drug Trafficking Organization was receiving approximately 70-100 kilograms of heroin from Mexico.  On November 30, 2016, the Columbus Police executed search warrants on this organization, which ultimately resulted in the indictment of the five individuals as follows:

 

            Jose Alfredo Govea-Jimenez, age 47, Lewis Center, OH  43035

            Ellery Lamas Cardenas, age 42, Columbus, OH  43228

            Jose Millan, age 26, Columbus, OH  43228

            Jennifer Lynn Guy, age 32, Columbus, OH  43214

            Jose Sanchez, age 33, Columbus, OH  43207

 

 The counts in the RICO indictments include counts of Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity with Specification, Trafficking in Heroin with Specification, and Trafficking in Heroin.  O’Brien commended the Columbus Police with their on-going investigation of this case.  “17,745 grams (17.75 kilos) of Heroin was seized, as well as 11 firearms, and over $20,000 in U.S. currency,” O’Brien stated.  Arraignment for all five defendants is set for next Wednesday, December 14th, 2016, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
