Suspect In 1975 Cold Case Indicted For Aggravated Murder Of Teenager

Today, Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment on Robert W. Meyer, age 70, for three unclassified counts of Aggravated Murder in connection to the March 1975 kidnapping, rape, and murder of 17 year-old Karen R. Adams. Meyer was arrested in Cincinnati on September 12, 2011, after investigators said his DNA was linked to evidence removed fom the victim. “The defendant faces a potential sentence of 30 years to life in prison”, O’Brien stated. O’Brien commended the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for their diligence and continued investigation of the case. O’Brien further stated, “DNA technology has advanced substantially over the past three decades, which increases our chances of solving cases like this where the evidence has been preserved”. Arraignment for Meyer will be set for Monday, September 26, 2011, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2A at 345 S. High Street.
