Defendant: Leroy Davis

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment on Leroy Davis, age 48, in connection to an offense that took place in 1996.  Davis has been indicted for two counts Aggravated Rape (F-1), and one count Kidnapping (F-1), for a total of three counts.  On June 23, 1996, the 34 year old victim at the time, was walking to her residence in the area of Bryden Road and Wilson Avenue, when she was grabbed and dragged to the rear of a building on Bryden Road by a male who then proceeded to rape her.  In July of 2014, the victim’s sexual assault exam kit was submitted to BCI for testing.  In August, a DNA profile was obtained matching the DNA profile of  Leroy Davis. Davis was arrested in Columbus on September 4, 2014.  “The defendant faces an indeterminate sentence of 10-25 years as to each count, for a total of 30-75 years in prison”, O’Brien stated.  O’Brien further stated, “DNA technology has advanced substantially over the past three decades, which increases our chances of solving cases like this where the evidence has been preserved”.  Arraignment for Davis will be set for Monday, September 15, 2014, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2A at 345 S. High Street.
