Defendant: Jordan Stewart
Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Jordan T. Stewart, age 16, for one count Murder (unclassified), and one count Tampering with Evidence (F-3), for a total of two counts. The indictment alleges that on October 20, 2013, Stewart was walking on a trail in Ridgewood Park in Blendon Township where he encountered a female jogger, Jane Juergens, age 55, who he proceeded to repeatedly stab to death. Further alleged is that Stewart tossed the knife used to murder Juergens into a wooded area nearby. Stewart is expected to plead guilty to both counts in the indictment within the next week. “If convicted of these charges, Stewart could be sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 18 years,” O’Brien stated. Arraignment for Stewart will be tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2A at 345 S. High Street.
