TWO INDICTED FOR AGGRAVATED MURDER OF TWO YEAR OLD

Defendant: Norman Burke and Jaquon Poindexter

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced the Franklin County Grand Jury returned indictments against Norman Burke and Jaquon Poindexter for their roles in the shooting death of two year old Amiyah Bice.  O’Brien said, “These men went into this child’s home and robbed the child’s parents, Julian Bice and Jessica Stanford.”  A shootout resulted.  A total of four people were shot out of the incident: Julian Bice, Jessica Stanford, Amiyah Bice, and defendant Norman Burke.  The crimes occurred on October 25, 2016 at a residence on the west side of Columbus.  The defendants were indicted with Aggravated Burglary, 2 counts of Aggravated Robbery, 2 counts of Attempted Murder, 2 counts of Felonious Assault, 2 counts of Aggravated Murder, 2 counts of Murder.  Norman Burke also faces an additional charge of Having a Weapon While Under Disability.  Both defendants face possible life sentences without the possibility of parole.

The defendants are scheduled for Arraignment on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 1:30 pm.  They are currently held without bond after O’Brien’s office requested a hearing for no bond in the Franklin County Municipal Court.
