IMPAIRED DRIVER INDICTED FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY AGGRAVATED VEHICULAR HOMICIDE IN DEATH OF 23 YEAR OLD MAN

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This man had alcohol in his system and was driving the wrong way on E. 15th Avenue going at an excessively high rate of speed in a 25 mph zone when he struck the victim as he was legally travelling through the intersection driving southbound on Summit Street on his way home from work.”  Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Samuel David Sharifi, age 22, in connection to the March 17th, 2018 early morning St. Patrick’s day crash that killed Alex B. Linard, age 23.  Sharifi has been indicted for one count Aggravated Vehicular Homicide (F-2), one count Aggravated Vehicular Homicide (F-3), two counts of Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Drug of Abuse or a Combination of Them – OVI (M-1), for a total of four counts.  “The indictment alleges in the OVI count that at the time of the crash the defendant’s blood alcohol level content was .094,” O’Brien stated.  Columbus Fire Medics pronounced the victim deceased shortly following the crash.  Sharifi is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow afternoon, April 25th, 2018 at 1:30 pm at 345 S. High Street in downtown Columbus.
