AS HOMICIDES IN THE CITY CONTINUE TO RISE THE GRAND JURY INDICTS 3 MORE MEN FOR SEPARATE AND UNRELATED MURDERS

Defendant: Darius Leroy Stovell, Stephen Lance Ritter III, and Derek D. Boone

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “Tragically 2 of these 3 murders in our county occurred within a 4 day time span.”  Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned indictments on 3 separate and unrelated murders.
 
Darius Leroy Stovell, age 20, has been indicted for the August 24th, 2020 shooting death of Antoine Blackshear Jr., age 21, in front of the C-1 Carry-out located at 6044 Channingway Boulevard at approximately 11:40 am.  During a verbal altercation, Stovell pulled out a gun and shot Blackshear numerous times prior to fleeing the scene and travelling to Los Angeles, CA, where he was eventually arrested.  The victim was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
 
Stephen Lance Ritter III, age 23, has been indicted for the August 27th, 2020 shooting death of his father Stephen Lance Ritter, II, age 50, on East Oak Street in Canal Winchester at approximately 5:30 am.  Officers were dispatched to the home and found the father dead in the residence from a gunshot wound to the neck.  The son was taken into custody at the scene. 
 
Derek D. Boone, II, age 29, has been indicted for the September 24th, 2020 shooting death of Cornelius Casimire, age 30, in a residence in the 2000 block of Homestead Drive at approximately noon.  Officers and medics arrived at the location and found the victim in an upstairs bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the suspect was immediately taken into custody.
