Defendant: Bruce Cameron

Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Kim Brown on Thursday sentenced Bruce Cameron to 24 years to life in prison for the 2021 murder of Dion Skipper.

On Sept. 28, a Franklin County jury found Cameron, formerly of Dayton, guilty of murder in Skipper’s death on April 4, 2021. Cameron shot and killed Dion that night after the two men got into an argument in a hotel parking lot near I-71 and Dublin-Granville Road. Judge Brown, who presided over Cameron’s trial, found him guilty on the additional counts of aggravated robbery and having a weapon under disability.

Cameron received 18 years to life for the murder charge with a gun specification and an additional six years for the aggravated robbery charge with a gun specification. The gun specification charges added a mandatory three-year sentence to each of the sentences for the underlying charges.

Franklin County assistant prosecuting attorneys Mark Wodarcyk and Tom Vaccaro prosecuted the case.
