Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office secures guilty verdict in 2022 rape case

Defendant: Abdiwahab Hassan

A Franklin County jury on Tuesday found Abdiwahab Hassan, 48, of Columbus, guilty of both charges against him — one count of rape of a child under the age of 13 and one count of gross sexual imposition.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Trenten Grohe and Katherine Wolfe prosecuted the case for the prosecutor’s office.

Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Stephen McIntosh has set a sentencing date of Dec. 17, 2024. Hassan, who knew the victim, faces a maximum sentence of life with the possibility of parole after 15 years.
