Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office secures guilty plea for the killing of Shannon Hiott

The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office secured a guilty plea Wednesday from Chance Donohoe, 27, for the killing of Shannon Hiott, 29, in August 2023. Donohoe pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and gross abuse of a corpse.
Assistant prosecutors Daniel Lenert and Melinda Killworth prosecuted the case for the prosecutor’s office.
On Aug. 29, 2023, Donohoe forced his way into Hiott’s residence and stabbed her multiple times. Donohoe left the crime scene, called 911 and admitted to killing Hiott, his ex-girlfriend.
Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Kim Brown scheduled Donohoe’s sentencing for Aug. 8, 2024. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
