MURDER INDICTMENT FILED ON MAN FOR SHOOTING DEATH OF VICTIM OUTSIDE WHITEHALL APARTMENT FOLLOWING ALTERCATION

Defendant: Clifford L. Patterson, Jr.

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “During an argument outside an apartment, this victim was shot in the chest and left lying in the parking lot as his assailant fled the scene.”  Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned a three count indictment on Clifford L. Patterson, Jr., age 40, in connection to the May 10th, 2020 murder of Dion S. Lamarr, age 37, that occurred outside an apartment located in the 1000 block of the Fountain Lane apartments in Whitehall.  Patterson has been indicted for one count of Aggravated Murder and two counts of Murder (all counts having a Firearm Specifications).  “At approximately 9:30 am that morning, Whitehall Police were dispatched to the location on a report of gunshots being fired.  Police arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene shortly thereafter,” O’Brien stated.  A witness at the scene stated that Patterson and the victim had been involved in a verbal altercation about excessive noise coming from the victim’s apartment.   “Patterson shot at the unarmed victim numerous times and then fled into a nearby apartment,” O’Brien further stated.   Arraignment for this case is set for Monday, May 18th, 2020, in courtroom 2B at 345 South High Street in downtown Columbus.
