One Of Four Connected To Murder Of Whitehall Man Indicted

Defendant: Dartanian Hawkins

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Dartanian Hawkins, age 19, for two counts Aggravated Murder (Unclassified), one count Kidnapping (F-1), and one count Aggravated Robbery (F-1), for a total of four counts, in connection to the October 20th, 2012 death of Michael Payne, age 38, of Whitehall. It is alleged that Payne was strangled in Apt. 205 at 4069 E. Livingston Avenue on the East Side, but his body was found outside an apartment complex near E. Broad Street in Whitehall. Another suspect, Jeffery M. Bagley, age 32, was arrested last week and charged with tampering with evidence. The remaining two suspects in the slaying, Amy L. Lambert, age 27, and Maxamillion J. Williams, age 18, have been arrested in Florida and Mexico. Arraignment for Hawkins is set for this Friday, November 2nd, 2012, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2A at 345 S. High Street.
